Dear Mahalo Investors, Employees:

I extend my condolences to you, your limited partners and your families.

When you invested in the Mahalo vision, you placed your trust in Jason McCabe Calacanis, believing that he would try his best to realize that vision. Unfortunately, Mr. Calacanis, like most of us, is an imperfect person.

Instead of living the workaholic startup life he argued is all but a prerequisite for employees, he has traveled the world.

Instead of serving as a dedicated advocate for Mahalo, he has served as an advocate for a company that makes the $109,000 electric sports car he purchased.

Instead of doing his small part to give Americans the ability to work 120% harder, he has cut jobs at home and sent them to the Philippines.

And while you were gambling on his vision, he has simply gambled.

There is little worse in this world than investing your time and money in those whose actions do not match their words, in those who think that the position of Chief Executive Officer is a part-time job.

I hope that your future investments in time and money are more fruitful than the investment you have made in Mahalo and Jason McCabe Calacanis.

Yours truly,

Drama 2.0

hahaha, now this is good stuff.

  2. Bart says:

i assume you saw the massive expose on seobook.com ? if you did, check it again because aaron updated it with even more mahalo’ey goodness – huge link farming

i bet he sells mahalo for “an undisclosed amount” this year

btw he said that people should leave his car alone – he is a rich internet celebrity who is required to have a fancy car – he said this on one of those gilmoron podcasts

I did see the seobook post, Bart. Not surprising. Only a person like Calacanis would require 8 figures to build a link farm promoting a site monetized with AdSense.

I don’t care about his car per se. My S65 is more expensive than his Tesla. Doesn’t tell you anything about me. The point is that he took the time to write an op-ed style piece defending a car company that he attention whores for.

  4. memo3.0 says:

    Dear Drama,

Thanks for changing your RSS feed to the bullshit ’snippit/post-preview’ style.

Talk about cutting off the nose to spite the face – you of all people should realize how dipshit a move this is.

Congrats on losing a reader who forwarded most every solid article you wrote these last 8 odd months to a list of ~10

  5. Drama 2.0 says:

    Dear memo3.0,

I have no idea what you’re talking about. I haven’t changed any RSS settings; I never provided full text of my posts in my RSS feed anyway.

If you like what I write and can’t be shitted to click a link to read the full text, that’s your problem.

Don’t let the door hit you on the way out.
