Palm Proves That You Can Teach an Old Dog New Tricks

In my Econsultancy column this week, I take a look Palm’s new smart phone – the Pre.

Palm, which most industry observers had counted down and out, took most people by surprise by releasing what looks to be a viable consumer smart phone in the Pre. The design has won praise and Palm’s Linux-based webOS looks to be quite impressive. While there’s still reason to question just how financially successful the Pre will be, Palm clearly went back to basics and focused on product development – something it had to do to survive.
