Silicon Valley’s irrational focus on ‘disruptive technologies’

I point out that not only do most Silicon Valley insiders and observers seem incapable of distinguishing disruptive technologies from, say, evolutionary technologies or revolutionary technologies, but also argue that Silicon Valley should focus on profitably producing technologies people want, need and will pay for, leaving the categorization of those technologies to intellectuals, such as Harvard Business School professor Clayton M. Christensen, author of The Innovator’s Dilemma: When New Technologies Cause Great Firms to Fail.
